Romney Favorite
When asked his favorite novel in an interview shown recently on the Fox News Channel, Mitt Romney pointed to “Battlefield Earth,” a novel by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology
Romney Favors Hubbard Novel .
I know the movie sucked, but to be fair, I haven't read the book. Still, I question the wisdom of picking any L. Ron Hubbard novel as your favorite while you're on the campaign trail.
Sounds like Romney is as much a connoisseur of good science fiction as he is of
hunting.

I've always been more into fantasy than core sci fi, but I have a great story about lron (too close to nron for comfort) and his scientology stuff from an old pal of his.
But if I told you, tom cruise would come to my house and jump on my couch or something, so I'll not type it out.
what kind of sci fi do you like?

Well, with very few exceptions (notably LOTR & Harry Potter), if I see a unicorn, a troll, or princesses in a forest, my eyes roll up into the back of my head & I pass out.
I prefer the hard core sci-fi, but even the space opera stuff is acceptable, e.g., Dune double trilogy was excellent.
Basically, if it has good characters and/or a good story, preferably both, I'll like it.
Stuff like the early LeGuin stuff,e.g., The Left Hand of Darnkess.
Darn, that's The Left Hand of Darkness.
I think Romney is a good man. I doubt he will get the Repub nomination though.
Just once, I'd like to see his hair messed up. I think it may be bullet proof.
I guess he must like that novel.
j.d.: Willard Mitt Romney's not a bad guy, but he is a politician who's trying to appeal to the sci-fi geek vote & he used the wrong book choice.
interesting choice but heck...its ok to be a sci fi geek eh?..Lol
angel: Yes, it is OK :-) What isn't OK is trying to sound like one when you really aren't.
Hmmmm....I tried to read it, but it sucked.
Cube, have you ever seen Firefly? It was a sci-fi that only lived for one season, and was pretty good...
I checked the entire season out from my library, and am about halfway through.
phoenix: Life is too short to waste on reading a crappy book.
brooke: Yes. I have the entire series & Serenity on DVD, but I haven't finished them yet.
I still can't understand why it was cancelled.
My husband and I can't understand why it was cancelled either. But the fact that the pencil pushers at Fox decided to air the second episode first, rather than the pilot, could have contributed to its not having a very large audience at the time it was aired.
The Drudge Report poll for who did the best at the debate has Romney in the lead right now.
v.r.: I don't know the circumstances because I didn't watch Firefly during the brief time when it aired.
It wasn't until many people recommended it to me that I decided to buy it.
I'd like to know why they're even having a debate this early?
