Awesome Choppering

This came to me via email from Auntie M:

"This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helicopter rescue mission. The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life. Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the rear end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear.

If this does not impress you ... nothing ever will. Gives me the chills and a serious case of the vertigo ... I can't even imagine having the nerve ... much less the talent and ability ...

God Bless our military."

I hope this is real.

If this is a hoax, it doesn't take away from the skill, courage, and bravery of our military.
They are doing amazing things day in and day out that we never hear about. Our mainstream media sucks! A handful of our guys have done bad things, and that is what makes headlines. The other couple hundred thousand or so have served honorably and with great integrity, and that's just not news worthy.
Bravo to all our servicemen & women for their dedication and sacrifice!!!!!

Wow. WOW. I agree with Jamie--even if a hoax, who cares--it does not diminish what our guys/girls (not to mention Prince Harry) are doing over there.

Click on the picture. It really brings homes the danger of this rescue mission.

d.a.: The Prince Harry story should never have been leaked. They will be gunning for him now.

It is indeed an amazing feat. But then we hear so little of what our armed forces are doing. Lots of info on who's sleeping with who and who's doing what in hollywood though.

mk: So true. The MSM doesn't have a very good track record when it comes to reporting the good side of our military. It's a shame, too, 'cause our military is one awesome force indeed.

Cube - I really pray that HRH is not harmed - both Princes are held in such high esteem here.

mildaysa: The Princes are held in high esteem on this side of the pond as well. I think Harry's tour of duty should be called off now that his whereabouts have been divulged.

Me thinks the skill displayed is the real deal.

As for the leaked report of where Prince Harry is serving, it would not be decent and seemly to express myself concerning the report providing to the enemy, the location of a high value target and increasing the danger to all those who serve with and around him.

anonymous: Thanks for the link.

Here's an excerpt:

"Keystone Helicopter, an industry leader in helicopter services for 50 years, gave special recognition last week to pilot Larry Murphy for his recent skillful rooftop landing of his CH-47 helicopter to pick up Afghan Persons Under Custody during Operation Mountain Resolve in Afghanistan's Nuristan Province. Murphy, a 10-year Keystone Helicopter EMS pilot at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is currently on active duty with Company G, 104th Aviation Regiment."

On ya Larry Murphy!!!

"Skillful" seems all too inadequate though.

God bless the military, US, Brits, Aussies and all.

I feel sorry for Harry. Ten weeks of pretending to be a normal person, just one of the guys. His life has peaked. That was his one small taste of freedom, ironically, given the location and circumstance.

(OK - FOURTEENTH time lucky with the "word verification", hey? What are my chances?)
