GWB

Sameh El-Shahat, Egyptian-born resident of the UK, argues that George W. Bush has been the most under-rated president... ever.

Holy Cows: George W Bush - Buffoon Or Great Leader?

How refreshing to read something that doesn't slam President Bush, a good and decent man who doesn't deserve the venomous hate the liberal left, and some on the right, heap upon him.

Bush has his faults; every prez does.

But the BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) on the left is just ridiculous.

I agree--he is the most underrated president since Nixon ... and history will judge him better than the ideologically twisted twerps who don't allow themselves to see anything but incompetence or worse.

Other than the growth in the deficit--which no good fiscal conservative can be pleased with--and the administration's failure to develop a sound national strategy on energy, his record will look remarkably better in 50 years than it does now.

And it's a lesson to us, too. Let's not assume that those with whom we disagree have evil motives. They may, I'll admit. But it's much more likely they have good intentions and just seek to apply them in ways we find unpalatable.

I have a feeling that in 50 years history will have a far different view of Bush than what is peddled today.

He is a man of principals and convictions. And besides, he reads The BLOG.

brooke: I agree.

david: I agree about the overspending, but as far as the sound energy policy goes, Bush was calling for drilling in ANWAR & offshore for years, but the Congress (whose approval ratings are far lower than his) wouldn't allow it. The President isn't omnipotent.

papa frank: I also believe history will absolve him.

jan: There you go! ;-)
