Spider Cloth

Lately I've been referring to 2009 as the Year of the Spider because I keep having close encounters of the arachnic kind. Far too close and creepy encounters.

Well today I read this...

1 Million Spiders Make Golden Silk For Rare Cloth

Holy crap! I'm getting heebie jeebies just thinking about this.

nanc: You are brave to call me that when you haven't seen or heard about my spider encounters this year. They have been above & beyond what I have ever run across and I've been a Florida resident since 1968!

I can only hope the year of the spider ends in 2010. Please...
and the year of the cockroach doesn't begin... Please...

WomanHonorThyself: Well, at least you didn't make fun of me... sniff... ;-)

I think the research into spider silk is cool. I may not be the one to do it but I'm glad someone does.

I saw the photos and had to back out quick... heart pounding, hands sweating...AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH.

I will never tease anyone who has a phobia about a critter. I can't deal with spiders. I'll pick up and kiss a snake, a rat, a frog...

I'm with you...can't even read your link, and don't really want to see table cloths anymore, either!? :-)
But, thanks!! heh

PETA will be outraged at the enslavement of these creatures. btw, wouldn't the throw-rug be a little sticky? It'd look nice until it collected all those flys like fly paper.

i have too seen your spider posts, sissy!

BWAH!

you can also use spider web to close wounds if you're out in the wilderness - until you can seek medical attention. make sure the spider is OFF the web...hehehe...

i hate jerusalem beetles...EEEEEEEK!

Spiders would be a welcome break from my Year of the Mosquito.

Chuck: I'm with you on that. The research into spider silk is important, but thank goodness there are braver people out there who will do it. I am not one of those people.

Ananda Girl: lol! The photo with the spiders on the dude's hands made me uncomfortable. Heebie jeebies. I hate bugs. I love snakes & amphibians of all kinds, but bugs AND spiders are bugsona non grata in my life.

8675309: Good to hear from you again even if it's just the sound of horrified reader ;-)

Believe me, I can relate.

Z: The link is actually quite interesting, but I don't think I'd ever knowingly rest my head on some spider silk fabric. No way!

DaBlade: Ahhh, I can always count on your unique perspective. Good job.

nanc: Yeah, you have seen some of my spider posts, but I haven't posted about my recent encounters which have been quite prolific this year.

Sissy, my ass! You haven't seen the size of the spiders I've run into recently. It's been bad! Bad, I tell you!

Nanc: BTW how big are those nasty jerusalm beetles, anyway?

Beckeye: Hey, I hate mosquitos, but huge spiders, lying in wait in my garage, in my yard, in my mailbox... well, you get the gist. Run!!!!!

I walked into a gigantic spider web the other night that had been spun between a sycamore tree in my front yard and a post on my front porch. Scared the crap out of me. It also made a creepy high-pitched humming sound when I made contact with it.

Pasadena Closet Conservative: Yikes! A humming sound from the web or the spider?

I killed a big, fat spider in our garage last week.
I promptly got a fogger and fumigated the heck out of the garage.
I HATE spiders!!!
I'm with you on this one.

Jamie Dawn: I've had a bunch of run ins with spiders recently. Way more than usual. Hence the year of the spider moniker. Like I said before, the only thing worse would be the year of the cockroaches.
