Got Christ?

UAE: Muslim World Claims World's 'Most Expensive' Christmas Tree

I've not read about all of the ornaments are on this 11 million dollar tree, but I'd like to know if is there just one celebrating Christ's birth?

I'm just saying. Hope it's not like last year's Obama White House tree with a Mao ornament...

Yeah, remember the reason for the season.

That is one expensive Cristmas tree!

Jesus is the reason for the season, and not some fancy shmancy tree.

to me it's as if they're mocking our faith, but at this time of year everything sets me off like that.......

"got Christ?" well, if He weren't the one upon whom we base "the one True Faith", they could probably BUY Christ and prop him up in the branches, huh?

Teresa: Yes, it is expensive, but does it really honor Christmas? I don't think so.

Z: I'm getting the same vibe. I don't know about your Christmas tree, but along with the lights and the shiny ornaments, we include some Madonna and Christ ornaments in the mix.

I honestly doubt this Dubai hotel
is truly honoring Christ with this opulent excess. What would Jesus say about this?

For the tourists? Somehow spending Christmas in a Muslim country isn't at the top of my list.

This tree is sacrilege as far as I'm concerned. As Z said, they're mocking our faith.

Hey, what did the UAE use for the tree topper?

Jan: Spending Christmas in a moslem country isn't my cup of tea either. To me, Christmas is about family and not about shiny baubles on the tree.

Always On Watch: What's topping the tree is an excellent question.

So where's the homicide bomber to blow up this infidel abomination?

Huh?

This was my first thought - is this sarcasm?

They aren't mocking faith in fact they decorate for Christmas as a sign of respect to Christians. Btw, I have spent Christmas week there and I remember thinking that they did a better job that any other country I had visited.

I do love a beautiful Christmas tree, as well as all of the Victorian trappings we associate with Christmas-- but of course that's not what it's really about. It's about the incarnation of Christ.

I don't know if this is meant to mock... after all, Muslims claim to honor Jesus as a great prophet. So I'll give the benefit of the doubt... just this once.

Terrible...

11 million dollars on the christmas tree?!?! Christ was born to rid of us this kind of waist. The tree is a symbol of the spirit of the season.

This money could meet the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation quota that it asks from donors for three years.

I would have much rather have decorated this tree with pictures of the young children that this money could have helped to save.

wellllll, if they call it a yule tree, and celebrate the solstice, like druids, then I suppose it's ok.

It might just be the Christmas tree that brings peace to the craziness abounding there... miracles do happen!
