Amy Winehouse 1983- 2011

Amy Winehouse, 27, Found Dead At Her London Flat

Sadly, there will no more sultry songs from Ms. Winehouse. Many saw this coming, but not this soon.

RIP.

This was the first thing I saw when I got on line today... on my email home page. It did not surprise me. Its sad though when someone has so much talent and loses control, then loses everything.

I was a little surprised that it came this soon. I heard she had cleaned up her act after the disastrous performance in Serbia. I guess not.

Not sure I ever heard her sing. The only thing I'd ever known about her was drugs and trouble with the law.

really sad, so much talent.

untreated bipolar...everything just downhill from there I think.

such a waste.

It was inevitable I'm afraid.

Norma: I don't know where your musical tastes lie, but she was very gifted musically and it's a shame she couldn't control her demons.

IWASNTBLOGGEDYESTERDAY: I agree about the loss of such a great talent, but I didn't know she was bipolar. It's so sad.

Patrick Carroll: I guess we all saw it coming, but it's so sad that it came so soon. I had high hopes for next CD.

My husband actually said he was surprised it didn't happen sooner.

I tend to agree.

Brooke: I thought she'd wait until she was 28 and thus not make the 27Club. I'm just saying.

Laura Letters: Yeah, I'm going to break a leg getting over to your site. Just hold your breath, OK?

I thought she was already dead. It was a matter of when with that level of drug addiction.

It's rather sad that people who are blessed with so much talent destroy it with the use of drugs.

I had heard that she was literally "booed" because she was slurring through her songs in one of her final concerts..

It's truly sad.

cube: Laura's been spamming this to about every blog I see, including entirely nonpolitical ones. All the exact same message, cut and pasted with no thought. Mere spam.

It's not even worth going to. It is one of those very difficult to use forum pages that does not allow any standard blog logins.

Cube - Although I had really never heard her perform, I had still heard so much about her.

Although I knew she had struggled with drug use, it was still shocking - especially given her age.

I wrote on this for later today.

I think it's a sad waste of a life.

beakerkin: She now joins the 27Club. Very sad.

Leticia: Her European Tour was a flop when she was boo-ed off the stage in Bosnia. She ended up canceling the tour. I thought she was cleaning up her act. All very sad.

dmarks: Thanks for the info. Spam is spam. I will just ignore it.

Sue: I loved her music. I was looking forward to more, but alas, like Janis Joplin & Jimmy Hendrix before her, I will never have the pleasure.

It's a terrible tragedy. The reports on her now are sad to me, too, as if she had no choice and drugs just overtook her....not the best message I can think of for her younger fans.
"they want me in rehab, no, no, no....." apparently were the lyrics of her biggest hit.......
talk about prophetic.

Cube, your comment to Laura just about made me blow Coke (pardon the expression...I mean COCA COLA, of course! :-) all over my computer screen.
I got a comment the other day saying "you are invited to Follow Me". Ya, ....I'll get RIGHT over there and FOLLOW YOU!! (as if!) I don't know why that cracked me up !!

"Just hold your breath, alright?" HAAAAAAAA!!

Cube - I am thinking about getting one of her cd's.

My husband and I were big fans of Janis Joplin. 'Me and Bobby McGee' has always been a special song to me.

Z: I liked Winehouse's music; her lifestyle... not at all. She was a train wreck waiting to happen and, unfortunately for her, it happened.

I'm glad you liked my comment to Laura Letters, but I don't owe you a new keyboard... yet ;-)

Sue: My first exposure to Amy Winehouse was her CD "Back To Black". I loved it when it first came out and I love it now.

Since I will never have any new music from her, I am going to find her earlier CD, "Frank".

Such a shame. My eldest daughter just turned 21... only a few years from Winehouse's age. I feel so bad about this poor child who just couldn't find her way despite her talent.
