Sorry End

Contrary to popular belief, the starship Enterprise's shuttlecraft, the Galileo, did not burn up in re-entry to Taurus II...

It ended up in this Los Angeles parking lot looking like a sad heap of junk.

*sigh*

Is the Partridge Family bus next?

Oh no! There must be many, many Trekkies out there who would love to house this once glamorous Trek creation. Who owns it? How could this happen?

Exactly. It's just sad it was allowed to fall into such disrepair. I know there are tons of fans out there who would've stepped up and bought it. I'd love to have it in my yard.

As a Trekkie, I would have jumped at the chance to get this awesome treasure!

Unbelievably depressing and sad to see it in such dissaray.

Leticia: Me, too. I have a large Trek collection and would gladly have made room in my yard for the Galileo. Besides, it would give my daughters one more thing to roll their eyes over. That's always fun.

If you watch that Hollywood Auction show (forget what it's called right now) they COULDN'T sell the shuttle from Enterprise!

I guess shuttles are a bad market?

I have a Christmas ornament Shuttle G w/Spock's voice. :)

Brooke: I guess shuttles are rather large to keep around the house.

I have a few ornaments... an Enterprise, an E-D, a Klingon cruiser, a DS9 station, a Federation symbol that chirps and more.

I forget about the stuff I have because it's been years since I've taken it out and looked at it. I wish I had more storage room... *sigh*

My sister and brother-in-law gave me the "Amok Time" ornament last Christmas. That is one ornament that did not get put away with the other decorations. The theme song comforts me.

thats just sad.im not a trekki, but felt the same when i found out that the little house on thhe prarie set was rased to the ground years back.

I wouldn't know the Galileo from the Partridge Family bus (except for the paint-on hippie flowers, I guess?), but I'm sorry this happened...and in my city :-)
Kind of surprising, since some Trekkie would have probably paid big money for it!

I also have a lot Star Trek stuff. One day I intend to get a Tribble, or the Enterprise pizza cutter.

IWASNTBLOGGEDYESTERDAY: Tearing down the sets of TV shows and movies is commnly done when they can't be reused. It's not practical to keep them all. Still sad.

Z: I guess there's not a huge market for such a large item as a shuttle.

Leticia: I have a tribble that I bought in the early '90's. When my girls were litle, they beleived it was real because it purred and squeaked when you held it.

Not too long ago, it was looking for something and I moved "Tribby" and it started to purr. Amazing that it still works after all these years.

The Enterprise pizza cutter is nice, but pricey. I think I'll wait for the price to drop a bit.

It probably couldn't pass the California smog check.

Jan: I'm sure it was a temporal anomaly. BTW I tried to do an lol at the beginning of this comment, but I couldn't. Blogger has been crazy lately.

My name is David, i am from a small town south of palm springs California .this story of the Galileo space ship from star trek is funny to me, the reason is this, when i was younger a friend had items at the public storage lot where it was parked for a very long time , every time we would go there we would get inside to get out of the sun and drink beer and eat pistachios. ps. at one time it was parked in front of the palm desert mall During the grand opening of that mall... crazy uh.
