Frog Parties

The heavy rain fall from T.S. Colin overfilled our pool and left lots of water for the frogs to throw their parties.

That bodes well for amphibians... geckos in the house and frogs in the yard.

That bodes well for humans, too :)

At first glance I thought the blog title was Frog Panties. LOL

Kid: So do I. When my girls were little, we used to gather up tadpoles and raise them into adulthood and then set them free into our yard. We did the same with caterpillers. My daughters will tell you that's one of the benefits of having a science loving mom.

LL: Lol. I can chlorinate my pool, but I can't chlorinate my yard!!! I wouldn't even if I could because I love the frogs. They're welcome in my yard.

Granny Annie: Lol. Now we know where your head is... probably not far from where the frog's minds were ;)

Love the frogs. If you have frogs, you have a good, healthy environment.

Messymimi: Exactly. I agree that amphibians are very important. I'm glad somebody else gets it. I'm lucky enough to get them outside and inside. Yes, we have geckos in the house and they're supposed to be good luck, but I find them even more important when they're a no pesticide way of keeping down the bugs.

Cube, We've got frogs and I enjoy the sound they make. They're welcome in our pool after it's ready to go in spring as they do no damage and they don't bother depositing eggs in a normally chlorinated pool. They usually hang out in the skimmers and occasionally will swim with us if we force them to :). I love caterpillars. And one of my favorite words too btw.

Kid: I love the frog "party noise" as well, but we don't get them in our pool. I guess the pool enclosure keeps them out. We do have a problem with spiders ...
Go here to see our pool spider trevailes

WOW!, those are some neat looking spiders. Outside of water spiders (glide on top of the water) which we swim with, we tend to get big brown hairy things. I saw one in the skimmer yesterday so just left the top off and she's hightailed it since. I say she because she was carrying about 100 babies on her back. Last year a big one came swimming toward me about 2 feet down in the water. Luckily I had a skimmer net with me and caught it and tossed it out. Maybe he knew I'd save him.

Kid: We get big Huntsman spiders, but not in the pool enclosure. One night my husband was smoking a cigar outside when a Huntsman spider came out of the grass and began to cross the carport. It stopped about halfway across, turned to look at him, its eyes gleaming after catching the motion-detector lights. My husband didn't move and the spider turned and continued on its way to the grass on the other side of the carport. They can be pretty aggressive, too. But this one didn't want to mess with my husband and he didn't want to mess with it. Detente.
