Living Dinos

In keepng with the shoe theme, I bring you the Shoebilled Stork, (Balaeniceps rex), a living dinosaur.

It can achieve a height of 60" and a wingspan of 7'7" - 8'6", and justifiably scares some people.

The Shoebill: Or, The Most Terrifying Bird In The World

Then there's the death stare:

Dinosaurs ruled the world once, are they planning to do it again?

Oh man... the 'Death Pelican'... hunts like a boss in the swamp. I had no idea this creature stalked the Earth. Very cool.

Yikes, I like how they poop on their legs to cool off. Yuk.

Have a fabulous day. ♥

Wow, he/she does look scary.

I understand the new democrat platform is to bring back the Dino's so they will eat White Christians and otherwise Conservatives of any flavor. Sounds like one of their plans anyway.

DaBlade: Yes, this is one cool-a$$ bird.

Sandee: The poor bird has to poop somewhere. Besides, I think that it's a pretty good evolutionary advantage to learn to use that to chill your core temp. Other birds don't necessarily do that.

Fascinating. Wonder if they would eat nutria. The 'gators are finally learning to.

Kid: It does look scary, but that's all smoke & mirrors. A Shoebill is not likely to harm a human, but does eat other critters that might harm a child or small animals. There's a lot of room in that bill.

If bringing back dinos is the dem/prog platform, they'll get a big surprise. Dinos aren't selective about white meat vs. dark meat. They'll eat us all equally fast.

Messymimi: The Shoebills would eat nutria in a New York minute if they could get to them. They also eat baby gators, lizards, and all kinds of fish. FTA they hunt like a boss in the swamp and those large bills can hold some mighty large cargo. Some people are suggesting they be set loose in the Everglades, but I think more studies need to be done before we do that. The 'Glades is a very complex ecosystem.

I'm sure that they taste like chicken....Shoebill Kiev? KFS (Kentucky Fried Shoebill)? Which may explain why they are endangered. Cavemen preferred them to pelicans.

I practice that look.

LL: In that vein, Shoebill Marsela occurs to me as a possible protein source, but I don't think it explains their endangerment. Shoebills are found in central tropical Africa, a place not wonderfully conducive to modern life, much less the life and well-being of a large bird. Pelicans certainly found a larger prey field in North America which led them to better food forays, but the Shoebills got stuck in Africa. Why that happened is on of the many mysteries of the natural world.

Ed Bonderenka: LOL. I can't argue with THE death stare.

LL: Maybe the Stonebill storks were lib/progs?

Yikes, this brings back memories of birds terrifying villages

The shitting on themselves aspect of the bird's life would indicate to all that they are progressives.

Based on that photo up top, our friend B. rex is clearly skipping Leg Day at the gym.

Always wondered what the cross between a Canary and a Grizzly would look like.
