Cat Blog Friday

For this Cat Blog Friday...

... a black cat to highlight the plight of these felines who are often overlooked for adoption because of the superstitions surrounding their color.

Today is not to be confused with National Black Cat day which falls on October 25th ... hey, black cats need all the help they can get.

Happy Friday everybody!

My grandson and his black cat are living with me now in our new house and both are a joy. Shadow keeps trying to stroll into everyone's room because he is a cat and cannot abide closed doors. He is jet black except for one white whisker--very striking.

My last cat was black and she was the best cat ever.

I linked this post to Feline Friday.

Have a purrfect day and weekend. ♥

The superstition blows my mind. I like how some photographers have shared with shelter volunteers how to best photograph black cats. This is a great example! Gorgeous. Be well, my dear.

I would think that black cat day should be on a Friday-the-13th or on Halloween. You know that they're all witches' familiars...ADMIT IT! With the burgeoning witch populations in Portland, San Francisco, Austin and other progressive Meccas, it might do to advertise them as such to facilitate adoption...

Jan: Shadow sounds like a typical cat, i.e., curious. I've had generations of black cats and they're as different as night and day inspite of their hue. Despite their color similarities, they can be as different as night and day in personalities.

In the UK black cats are considered lucky, but still seem to take longer to be adopted. Whenever I visit the shelter almost always over half are black.

We've had several black cats, they are marvelous. In Japan, they are good luck, i think we should go with that.

My wife and I fostered orphan kittens. Had 40 or more through our house. And I have always had cats as pets. imo - black and black and white cats have the neatest playful personalities. Not that other colors don't but make me choose and I'll pick a black or black and white.
