The funny thing is, there is no correct answer to the question.
I've generally referred to it as "the salt creature," because it feeds off the salt of humans and other creatures.
The creature took on the form and identity of a human woman in the episode (whose name I forget), but that woman's name is not the creature's name. She was already dead by the time things got started.

Nope, not an early Klingon. But thank you for bothering to comment. It seems like interest in Star Trek is at an all-time low.
Wendy: I've never seen Trekkies 1 or 2 so I can't say much about them.
I like trek because of the great stories it tells. It's that simple.
And I am living proof that not all obsessed fans are pathetic losers who live in their parents' basements ... no really... some of us have lives!

There is a more specific answer than the salt vampire or the salt creature who took the form of Nancy Crater & other humans... Guess again.
Wade, you are correct sir! M113 creature is the right answer.
BTW I like Stargate & BSG, but I don't know what CSR is... perhaps you can explain.
