Compulsive Ice Chewers

Frankly, I didn't even know this was such a big problem for some people, but now that I do, it just gives me the shivers when I think of all those teeth gnashing all those tiny ice cubes...

Oh, the cubanity!

"cubanity"

I love it!

I confess, I chew ice. But, I prefer the little nugget shaped pieces of ice you get in some restaurants, and not the cubes. Is that OK?

Once I upped my iron supplements, I lost the urge, and that was 20 years ago. But during my apparent anemic/ice frenzy I chewed a lot of the little chips!

d.m.: Alas, it is but a photo I borrowed from the blogosphere. Sadly, my home pics are far from extraordinary.

rgmb: Hello! Glad to hear from you again. Yes, there does seem to be a connection between a low Fe+ level & compulsive ice chomping. Go figure.

jen: Thanks. I can't help making these silly puns & sometimes it's nice to know someone appreciates them.

As far as chewing the little ice nuggets, well, my little nugget-shaped friends are upset about it, but I'm OK with it ;-)

I used to chew ice cubes when I was a teen, but I got over it. ;)

Cubanity! Ha, ha - nice play on words!!

My SIL can't stand to hear anyone crunch ice.
It drives her bananas!

I used to too, now I have crowns from the microfractures I gave myself...oooops.
I've heard of the Fe connection, wonder why it triggers chomping?

brooke: Good for your teeth.

j.d.: Glad you liked it.

tmw: That's a good question. I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation for it.
