I thought they were a protected species, you know, something to lure the tourists. Or were they over protected like California's mountain lions? It should provide employment for the brave.
Sue Hanes: I have had a very large gator swim underneath my canoe and I didn't break a sweat. Of course, running into a giant spider web or a dragonfly landing on my canoe can make me lose control. I'm crazy that way.
Silly Rabbit: Me too. Lol on sue's comment... although gators have been known to come inside through pet doors. It happens.
Leticia: I wouldn't hunt gators either. I'd rather have a desk job.
Sue Hanes: Brave? I'm scared of spiders and dragonflies. Sheesh.
Brooke: Canoeing down the Hillsborough River, you can see bunches of gators sunning themselves on the riverbank. Turtles, too. It's part of the Florida wildlife, but you're right, I wouldn't want to hunt them any more than you do.
Cube, have you read the Hitchhiker series? There's a funny scene in one of them in which lawyers take environmentalists out to lunch over an issue with a rock band. When they couldn't reach an agreement on the issue, the lawyers had the environmentalists shot. Douglas Adams had a twisted sense of humor.

Expect PETA to demonstrate.
Cube - Alligators don't scare me one bit. You know why?
cause they never come into my bedroom like spiders used to.
And if an alligator did come into my bedroom you know what I'd do?
i'd kill it
:)
Yikes! is right. That is one job that I'll take a pass on.
lol@ sue hanes!
Jan: I'm not sure, but I think they were protected at some point in time, but now have reproduced to the point of being a nuisance.
And yes, PETA will demonstrate for all the wrong reasons. That is their way.

Pass! No way I would hunt alligators, I don't have a death wish. Those reptiles are frightening!
Cube - You are so brave!
I wouldn't even set foot in a canoe - let alone one that had alligators under it.
I don't want firsthand experience with the 'death roll.'
I'll pass. ;)

Cube - Didja ever see Crocodile
Dundee - the scene where she bends over to refresh herself with river water - and the croc almost eats her.
I wish I still had that movie.
what a classic
