I spent so many happy hours inside Mr.Bradbury's imagination. It was a comfortable and entertaining place filled with mysterious things and odd situations. There are few short story writers that I enjoy reading. A flaw on my own part because I like to get lost inside my books and a short story usually does not have enough time to lay foundation for a mental vacation. But Ray Bradbury's stories were an exception to that rule.
I got to meet him once at a talk he gave...he was what I called a kind curmudgeon. Never have been a fan of his genre (sorry Cube and Leticia!) but he sure was a force in American contemporary writing...

I'm not a huge science fiction fan, but I am a huge Bradbury fan. I even have a signed first edition behind glass.

What was the last thing he wrote?
I liked reading his themed short stories when I was a kid. Martian Chronicles, Tattooed Man
Typically, I don't like science fiction. However, I love some of Bradbury's work.
Recently, I re-read "A Sound of Thunder." What a masterpiece! It is available online.
Next school term, my American Literature class will be studying Fahrenheit 451. My students typically love that novel!
BTW, Bradbury had a huge influence on Rod Serling and Stephen King.
Jan,
A signed first edition? I'm jealous!
Cube - Losing a great writer - is always a big loss.

Glad someone remembered to post about this great writer.
May he rest in peace.
