Birthday Greetings

Happy 21st birthday to our baby.

[insert her eye roll here]

We've been reminiscing about the day of her birth. My husband posted on Facebook that he remembers my water breaking at 4:30 in the morning and hearing me "emphasizing" to the OB/GYN on call that I knew the difference between my water breaking and peeing.

My husband knew then that it was going to be a long day.

My husband left out the part when I called the office back and told them I was keeping that baby inside of me until another doctor showed up for the birth and not the moron I was talking to on the phone.

Our Lauren was born at 5:27 PM and, yes, my husband was right, it was an exceedingly long day.

I will make sure she sees your birthday greetings.

Your baby will be 45? Yikes! You must have been a child bride ;)

I'm guessing you were not voted Mrs. congeniality at the hospital.

Cube - Happy Birthday to your daughter!

It's fun now to think back on the happenings of long ago. It makes for great storytelling.

Jan: :P Actually I got along great with the nurses at the hospital and the rest of the doctors in the practice. I just had a problem with that one doctor because he wasn't very bright.

I called the emergency number at 4:30 AM. He's on call and returns my call. I report that my water broke and he tells me to get to the hospital. Then he calls me back to ask if I was sure that it wasn't urine. That's when I went ballistic.

He was too stupid on too many levels for me to deal with while I faced a day of labor.

Sue Hanes: Thank you for your kind words. Mr. Cube and I have been understandably retrospective about our baby's coming of age.
