Andy Griffith 1926 - 2012

America's Sheriff Andy Griffith Dies At 86

Mr. Griffith had a long and varied career, but I think outdid himself when he came up with the Sheriff Taylor role. Through his acting, he made us believe in Mayberry.

RIP.

That show is one of the few reruns I enjoy watching. There was something so sweet and simple about it.

My childhood would not have been the same without Andy Griffith. Watching him as Sheriff Andy felt like watching a family friend. He was such a familiar face in our lives. Later I enjoyed him just as much as Matlock.

One of the news reporters was talking about Andy Griffith always playing the straight man. Suddenly I realized all of the other actors he helped make famous just by being there for them to bounce off of. Now that's talent.

Jan: There sure was somthing sweet and simple about it... something I think we need today.

There were many episodes that I enjoyed as a kid, but once I had children, I particularly remembered the one about Opie and the dead bird. It stuck with me far beyond an episode of a simple sit com.

Silly Rabbit: I agree about Sheriff Taylor and I also enjoyed him as Matlock, but over the years there have been tales told about how in real life he was a totally different man... I'm just saying I loved his work.

In his later years, Taylor irked me, but he still did good work and will be missed.

I am going to get slapped or something, but I never saw the show's re-runs! It looked boring to me, compared to the re-runs of Star Trek! LOL!

He was a good man with good intentions when he developed and created this show.

RIP, Mr. Griffin.

That show had something for everybody.
Cube, my office used to be 2 blocks from my house and, one day in front of my best friend, the mailman came into my office with my mail, as usual, but said "Here's your HOME mail, too!"
Melinda says "What, are you living in MAYBERRY!?"
I laugh every time I think of it.

May he rest in peace.
EVen if he was a liberal :-)
