Voice Mail Descent?

Please Do Not Leave A Message: Why Millennials Don't Like Voice Mail

I'm no millennial (18-34) and I loathe using voice mail. I rarely leave a message and I never check mine.

I'm seeing signs of others feeling the same way.

What say you?

They're all text crazy now.

If I want to reach my daughters quickly, I text them. I prefer texting myself. It saves time and effort.

I strongly agree!

If I miss a call I see the number on my caller ID and call them back. They will ask if I got their voice-mail and I have to admit I didn't even check.

Cube - I listen to my voice mail and I leave messages. I don't like to leave messages but I don't mind listening to my voice mail messages.

I prefer text, but I do listen to my voice mail and return calls. The problem is the long political and advertising messages that are now being left on voice mail.

When I was working there were lots of employees and I had a group that worked for me. I was the sergeant and I worked for a lieutenant. When he wanted something done he would voice mail me with what he wanted. I'd then send that to the person that was going to do that. Instead of me saying what needed doing I sent the message from the lieutenant to that person. It worked very well.

Sometimes I wouldn't see the folks that worked for me for most of the day. Voice mail got it done. We loved it.

Have a fabulous day. :)

Sue Hanes: You're a more patient person than I am.

Jan: I don't give out my cell number to strangers. I keep it within a close circle of friends and family.

People who know me personally know not to leave me a long voice mail. They know I will return their call without listening to their message.

Sandee: I'm glad it worked well for you. I think it helped that your circumstances were unique.
