When I was a very young boy ( years, & years ago unfortunately ) my parents got me a turtle. I loved that animal but alas it died and I didn't get another one. Have a great day Cube. See ya.
I saved a tiny baby turtle from a neighbor's lawnmower last summer. We took care of it for a couple months until it was big enough to go back into the wild. We took it to a HUGE pond with other red eared sliders.
About six weeks later, me and the kids went back to the park and walked around the pond. We found our little turtle struggling for breath upside down. I KNEW it was our turtle because the little guy had a very distinct "scar" on it's shell.
Paul Pietrangelo: I grew up in New York, so pets weren't a big part of my life, but I was always the kid who raised her hand first when it came to taking the class pet home over the holidays.
Turtles, guinea pigs, mice... I never lost one on my watch.
Oh my goodness, I love turtles. As a kid I always had a little box turtle! The are interesting creatures! Have a great week and thanks for this Aw....share!
I love 'Shellfie'.... turtles..?? I think you have to live with one first. I had a foreign student named DIEGO live here in the Fall, but it's just NOT the same thing :-)
Z: I'm glad you liked 'shellfie'. I never had a turtle for any significant amount of time until now and I think turtlehood changes you.
There was an incident years ago at the Florida Aquarium involving me and a turtle, but I guess now I'm not the turtle charmer, but the turtle charmee ;)

Cube - That is one big turtle. And it wanted to be in the picture. It is so sweet.

Have a terrific day. ☺
Sue Hanes: That is definitely one shell-fie I would have wanted to be in myself.

Sandee: Oh yeah, me too! I love those tropical spots. The flora and the fauna is even more amazing than than in Florida.
Jay Noel: That's so sweet. Good deeds don't go unheralded. You will get that turtle karma back one day.
I wish dogs had the lifespan of turtles. Somehow it doesn't seem fair, but then i have never had a pet turtle to bond with.
Jan: It doesn't seem fair at all, but we must look at the precious time we do have with our loved ones regardless of their species
I could of done without the global warming the Huf-Po felt it had to add.
LMAO @ a shellfie
Have a turtletastic week :-)

Woodsterman (Odie): Me too.
Stevebethere: Thank you. Glad you liked it.
Annesphamily: I never had a turtle as a pet, but I did take care of a little one during a school holiday once.
When we moved to Florida, we would see snapper turtles in the yard and play with them, but we would let them go.
My daughter calls Diego my grand-turtle and I have bonded with him.
