Google Inc. co-founder Sergey Brin acknowledged recently
here that the Internet company has compromised its principles by accommodating Chinese censorship demands.
Brin adds that Google is wrestling to make the deal work before deciding whether to reverse course. OK, we'll see how that goes.
BTW did you notice that Google didn't do a design for Memorial Day or for Flag Day?
I think a little show of patriotism for the country that made you multi-billionaires would be nice, don't you?

They should not accommodate any country in that country's attempt to limit the freedoms of its people.
I think they'll make a big show of possibly changing their policy with China, but will they really do it in the end? I wouldn't bet on it.
I'm not happy with Google's lack of acknowledgement of the patriotic U.S. holidays. What, they can't throw a few stars & stripes on their logo, but they can commemorate Canada's Remembrance Day? Hello?
I'm starting to worry about Google.
I second Jamie.
Didnæt google change their logo for The Irish holiday that was fairly recently? I remember green colour or soemthing...
If they do it for teh Irish...they shouldnæt leave out the uSA!
Don't forget that Yahoo and Microsoft have already gone along with the Chinese Gov't - quite some time ago; not recent.
caz: yes, but now they're saying they might rethink their position. Might is the key word here.
minka: They celebrate all kinds of things, even the World Cup! So I agree with you that they shouldn't leave out the USA.
When they start celebrating Mao's Birthday and the Communist Chinese Revolution I'm going to get really mad.
Google sucks.
brooke: yeah, but Yahoo isn't any better. We're stuck with them until something better comes along.
