Troll Speak
Natalie Maines, the vocal vocalist of the Dixie Chicks is at it again. She tells all she knows to the UK Telegraph here .
Here is an excerpt I found particularly disturbing...
"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don't see why people care about patriotism."
That tells me all I need to know about this little troll. She just doesn't get America.

*Through gritted teeth*
The entire country may agree with me; I don't understand the necessity for the Dixie Chicks. Why do you have to keep talking? Why can't you shut up? This is OUR country! I like where I live and I like my life, and as for loving the whole country... Well, duh! I don't see why people put up with the Dixie Chicks!
wow, those are powerful words and about sums up who she is as an "American".
brook: I know the feeling.
rgmb: wow, indeed.
This is exactly what the ultra-libs don't get. Most of America is patriotic. We aren't the global socialist sell outs they are.
Makes it pretty clear that though she may live in this country, she is not an "American."
Strip her of her citizenship and pack her and the other two off to...anywhere but in the USA.
Ok, now it's official...I hate the Dixie Chicks.
I still don't hate the Dixie Chicks and I like a lot of their music. I just think this woman in particular is very, very poor at expressing herself. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!
as an outsider ... I remember a certain sensation about these girls a while back. Maybe somethign political as well? It was in the news here. Heck I can´t remember.
patriotism with a healthy acknowledgement for the rest of humankind is healthy.
She needs to relocate to France..mebbe sheed prefer bein a frog eh?..UGH!
Cube we all are entitled to an opinion,
that's what america is all about.
Be it right or wrong just because
i don't agreed with you doesn't
mean i'm wrong or you're right.
Oooh, what timing. The Chicky-Flicks are on the cover of today's TV Guide magazine (Sunday over here), with the headline wetter "success is the best revenge".
Hmmm, we'll see. Haven't read the article yet; will have to get back to you about how they're trying to present themselves to an Aussie audience.
I hope Earl lives through the next song so he can exact revenge.
michelle: moral relativism can be a slippery slope, especially in connection with an idiot like Maines. Thank goodness this country doesn't run on opinions, because they are not all equal. But that's another argument. For now, I do think America is the best country on the planet, but agreeing with me isn't the criteria of right vs. wrong.
Simply it is this, do you root for your own country or not? If you don't, they why don't you? If you have serious grounds to object to your own country's practices, then I say, why are you still living there?
Nobody is forcing her to love America. I say, if she doesn't like it here, by all means... she should move to the country that she will root for. I won't miss her one bit.
i honestly cannot think of ONE chixie dicks song! what do they sing and why don't they just shut up and sing?
Biatches, all of them. The two skinny Dixie Hicks likely sit on the sidelines wishing the squatty one would shut the &@#$% up. Media can tell us all day long that they are are selling CD's by the boatload and I suspect their own record label is responsible for most of those purchases. But now their concerts are being cancelled and that means NOBODY cares to even look at them anymore. They are old news. To quote Seinfeld's Soup Nazi: "NEXT!!"
Well, finally read my teevee guide article: not exactly enlightening (gosh, how strange...)
Ms Dixie Flick is quoted as insisting that she thought she was "being patriotic" in making her comments from years ago. Not sure how that statement marries up with a disavowal of patriotism.
Maybe they need to get out a bit more and talk to some real Americans.
I am offended. I raised my hand and served my country proudly. I am upset that celebrity status can influence others with anti patriotic words. It shows they have no appreciation for the people who made this country what it is today. Sorry for the rant. Have a great day!
nanc: I never listened to them before (or now) so I can't name one of their songs either.
witchy: LOL! Next is right. Their new CD is also being downloaded a lot, but their concerts are being canceled. I think people like their music, but many just don't want to hear their political rants.
caz: I quoted Maines in the post. Those are her words, not mine.
raggedy: not a rant at all. I agree.
Celebrities should leave politics to the politicians.
Her publicist is probably throwing in the towel. The only thing that can shut her up is cement. The Dixie Chicks have had to cancel a bunch of performances for a lack of ticket sales (including my city of St. Louis).
Not just the publicist, imagine all the people associated with the tour. Maines is not just a big mouth, but she's also a bad businesswoman.
She doesn't understand because she's undereducated.
She went to Berklee College of Music, which offers degrees in such strenuous academic areas as film scoring and music therapy. Sadly, Ms. Maines did not finish her degree at Berklee. Apparently, even a fluff degree in music Performance was too tough for this troll.
Yeah... Unfortunately Nat is one stoopid girl. Shame though, I really love their music. The lyrics to "You were mine" (written by the other two chicks) are particularly poignant. And Maines does have a beautiful voice.
And ebuc I agree, she ain't no business woman that's for sure!
Natalie Maines should relocate and change citizenship to live in a country she can be proud of. I'm willing to help raise funds to move her to the country of her choice. I hate that she is suffering so much by having to live here in this wicked nation of ours. She is embarrassed by our president. Poor, poor Natalie.
She is expressing her freedom of speech. I am exercising my right to never buy a CD of theirs and expressing my freedom of speech by mocking the Dixie Chicks. They embarrass me!
j.d.: absolutely. In fact, I'm putting the inartfully vocal Ms. Maines and her more-slender-but-equally dumb cohorts on the same list as Michael Moore. You all know what that means...
