Wow, who knew? Thanks, Cube.
Plus, it's a nice respite from feeling like our country's falling apart (unless one of these things HITS us, right?! :-)

I know how you feel. Everyday there is an avalanche of crappy events and it can be overwhelming sometimes.

BTW the Perseids are very tiny and all they do is provide a beautiful show when they hit the atmosphere and burn up.

Oooh... I wonder if it shows here too? I'll go out and look! Well, when it's time anyway.

Thanks!

We're very fortunate to have JPL right here in Pasadena.

Thing is, we have had like, this venus cloud cover for the past few days. I hope it clears tonight.

If wishes are granted that are uttered at a shooting star, then obama's agenda is doomed.

I remember once when I was a kid we were camping this time of year. We sat up until 3:00 in the morning watching the Peseid's.

Think me and my wife are going to crack a couple of beers and sit in the back yard tonight. Have a nice big yard in the country and it looks clear.

There was just too much cloud cover when I checked at 9pm and then midnight. We couldn't even see stars.

I did manage to see 2 meteors when I went outside at 6:15 am. All I had was a small open patch of sky without clouds and was only out for a few minutes. Judging by that, it must've been a prolific show.

Did anyone else have better luck?

We also have a cloud cover - I saw only 1 at about 10:30 pm. I'll try again tonight - but it's still quite cloudy round here.

I just read on SpaceWeather.com that the meteor showers could be active tonight as well.
