Al Martino 1927-2009

Who?

Best known for his role as Johnny Fontane, the Godfather's godson, Martino also had a 50 year singing career that included hits such as "Volare" and "Spanish Eyes".

RIP, Mr. Martino.

I don't recognize him, but I thought Dean Martin sang Volare? I suppose several people also did that song.

I remember him from the Godfather movie, but I didn't know he sang "Volare" until I read it in his obit.

I always liked Al Martino.

But Dean Martin did the better-known version of "Volare."

BTW, Dean Martin and Al Martino were born in the same year. Dean Martin (birth name = Dino Crocetti) once took the name Dino Martino, but had to change that name because Al Martino was already pretty famous.
