A Merry Star Wars Christmas

Box office is looking great and, according to the critics, J.J.Abrams didn't "eff" it up.

How good is that?

I must say that I'm a little psyched by the early reports.

OK, maybe you're not one of those who agree with me... my own husband is not amused by the movie or the whole franchise, but he married this little geek girl thirty-three years ago and he still puts up with her geekdom.

You can be honest and tell me what you think, but please, no spoilers yet... yes, even my own daughter who's dying to discuss...

I will view the film when I no longer need a reserved seat/advance ticket sale. I prefer to watch movies without people packed in around me, in the I-Max. It feels more like a personal screening.

I'd definitely want to watch this movie in the theater, but will settle for a DVD screening in the comfort of my home at a later date. Daughte #2 watched the 10 AM screening on 12/11/15 and she called and said, "Mom, you'll love it."

I always wanted my girls to be Star Trek fans, but when they weren't ... I still loved them.

My brother in law is going through the same thing with our nephew/god-son in that he prefers Star Wars. We do commiserate.

I doubt I'll ever watch this movie. Not my cup of tea anymore. I certainly hate going to the movie theaters anymore. Bunch of clods there with their phones stuck in their faces. Bless their hearts.

Have a fabulous day. ☺

I'll Wait for the DVD too. Crowds of rude people talking through films and the sound level so high to drown them out hold no appeal for me. I know i'm missing the whole experience but the idea of going to a theatre freaks me out. Whenever a new one comes out my kids have a "Star Wars Film Festival" and we pop popcorn and watch them all,

Since i missed the last 3 films, for good or for bad, i'm figuring it's not time to catch up.

I don't know anything about movies until they've been out several years.

I'm in, but I can wait a while. The wife doesn't like these, so it's the home theater for me.

I thought I'd wait to see it when it comes out in VHS.

lots of the men in my family are going today. Others saw it the other day and loved it.
As you might remember, I have never seen anything Star Trek OR Wars. Forgive me!
And MERRY STAR CHRISTMAS! z

Sandee: I can't blame you about going to theaters anymore. I love the screen action, but the rest of the distractions aren't worth the money of the ticket and the snacks. Compared to a DVD at my house, there's no downside except being part of the current events. At my age, I'm more concerned about the movie than how quickly I can get to overpay at the theater.

Jan: I used to love movies at the theater, but in recent years, the experience hasn't been all that attractive, yet the ticket fees have been steadily rising. Nowadays people are rude, they're noisy and going to a movie isn't held with the same sense of decorum as it used to because people used to be quiet.

My niece and I are big fans of the Alien franchise and when "Prometheus" came out, she pestered and pestered me about going to see the movie so we could discuss the implications.
The poor thing, God bless her, kept her opinions to herself until I watched it on DVD. OK, we're still arguing about our conclusions, but she's still a good sport.

It's not easy being a dinosaur in this age of instant imaging.

Messymimi: I watched the last three films, but was disappointed by them. I like Darth Vader, and so I watched the second trilogy because I wanted to know his back story. It could've been told in the way of a Greek hero, tragically gone bad, which would've added to the pathos of the story, but Vader's end was anticlimactic in my view.

OK, that's over and the third trilogy is here with all the old cast. I'm thinking, it's got to be better than the previous movies and, so far, the reviews are very good.

I'll definitely watch, don't know when, but I'll watch... maybe more than once.

Kid: I'm with you on that because I think the theater experience has degraded over the years. I might make an exception about The Force Awakens just like I did with the Harry Potter films... I had kids to corral.

DaBlade: Don't feel bad. My husband falls asleep at all the movies we've dragged him too... don't go making any inferences from that ;)

Woodsterman (Odie): VHS. The laugh of the day.

Z: I'm very excited about The Force Awakens, and although I can wait for DVD time, I'm hoping for a situation to pop up for me to watch it before then. For the midnight showing of the last Harry Potter film, my daughters and friends had tickets and one dropped out. It was amazing to see the entire theater lobby looking like we had been transported to Hogwarts. Despite having to wear D-3 Harry Potter glasses, it was a wonderfully fun experience. The crowd behaved that night.
