Eclipse Watching a la Cheap
You may be sick of hearing about the eclipse, but here's my low cost solution to watching today's total eclipse without fancy schmancy glasses that may not even protect your eyes...
Total Solar Eclipse 2017: How To Make A Pinhole Projector From A Cereal Box
This is how we used to watch total solar eclipses back in the Mesozoic era ;)
Don't worry, the hysteria will be over soon.
P.S. Baily's beads are the most fascinating part of this whole thing. They get so little attention.

My daughter made me a cereal box viewer. I can't believe the prices for glasses that may offer no protection. What a scam.
Jan: Exactly. I'm going the cereal box route myself. I wonder how many people are going to damage their eyes with these faulty glasses. I can already see the legal firms getting ready to help them. *sigh* There's no amount of money in the world for my sight.
Geek girl that I am, I'm out there with my cereal box and I'm not seeing much. It's early yet, but I think there's too much cloud cover. We'll see.
We only reached about 95% but our deck was covered in crescent shadows. Too cool! I bought glasses on Amazon over 5 weeks ago. Some of the people who bought the same glasses were refunded by Amazon. I tested mine and they were fine. A lot of people lost a ton of money when Amazon pulled their glasses. One guy who lives in Utah even flew out to Seattle with his paperwork to prove his glasses were okay. They refused to see him and now he owns 5000 glasses. Arrrrrrrrgh.
We used a couple of scrap pieces of paper and it worked just fine.
I watched it online.
1) I was at work.
2) It was an e-clipse.
Looking out my window in Ohio, I noticed it got kinda half weird darkish. Was that the eclipse?
Adrienne: Tampa was only going to get a partial so I just made a pinhole projector out of a cereal box. It was cloudy here and I didn't get the best view at times.
Messymimi: Very resourceful. I made a pinhole projector out of a cereal box.
Ed Bonderenka: Lol. You saw more than I did.
Kid: Lol. I'd bet that's what it was.
Baily's beads... not a peep. i'm obviously in the wrong place. Something to think about.
