I had mentioned to my son a few weeks ago how groundbreaking the Nick Steranko "Nick Fury" comics were. He found some online copies and shared them with me.
In them, I read the "Bullpen" from Stan Lee, remembering how he published the first "blog" in his comics, talking about plans, upcoming characters, etc.
He really was a promoter.
I just heard that he appeared cameo in 42 Marvel movies making him one of the all time box office winners. :)

Lee was a force of nature, and as with many young men my age, I had comic books. Not a ton. I couldn't afford them, but I re-read the ones that I had and they were part of the landscape. When they became 'flesh' with Superman and Batman on TV, I had no idea where they'd end up as they are today. But it was Lee and those pioneers who had the vision and they need to be honored for that. They gave a lot of people escape from the daily grind.
