KGB Hit Job

Journalists who speak out against Russian President Vladimir Putin don't live long lives. The latest one is Anna Politkovskaya Outspoken Putin critic shot dead in Moscow .

By contrast, here in America, journalists are entitled to say unspeakable things about our President, and they can lie not just by omission, but through the use of "fake but accurate" documents, all in a deliberate attempt to sway the voting public.

Just when did freedom of speech become a license to lie?

Stymie the MSM...

Vote Republican.

Actually, I'm in favor of protecting the liberals right to lie. It helps us figure out who they are. It also helped me discern my own real political views when I was younger and shaking off adolescent liberalism. Getting a good look at the liar, the fraud, the smug bastard that Clinton was made me ask myself if I was REALLY a liberal. Freedom of speech is a great thing as long as we remember that we learn more about a speaker from what he or she says than we do about his or her topic.

I've noticed with November getting closer, the way liberals and conservatives run negative campaigns is getting down to brass tacks. Typically (but not always) a conservative negative campaign will be something like "Don't vote for Candiate X because he has supported items 1, 2, and 3, all of which are bad for our country." A liberal negative campaign will be something like "Don't vote for Candidate X because he is EVIL!!" The less you have to say, the more loudly you tend to say it.

As awful as I feel for Ms. Politkovskaya and her family, I can't help but wish some of our own media snakes lived in Russia...

Examples such as this are all the more reason for Americans to be thankful to our govt & military who ensure that ALL of us Americans (even the liberals!) remain free to say as we please without fear of being shot to death outside an elevator.

A study in contrasting political systems, for sure, but I think we'd all agree that it's better to live in our systems, with free speech, and where liars are mostly revealed for what they are - of course, the reason they are uncovered, the very thing that made them think they could get away with lies, is free speech itself. It serves us well, no matter the angle you look at it.

Many dozens of journalists are killed every year just doing their jobs, but most are not assassinated in cold blood. This was very sad, indeed.
