The MSM is full of glorious praise for the accomplishments of Walter Cronkite today, so I have decided to give the counterpoint view.
The Lies Of Tet Cronkite used his position as the "most trusted man in America" to blaze the path for the liberal activist journalism that is so prevalent today.
Thanks for nothing.

"And that's the rest of the story."
Very interesting. I had not read this. Thanks for sharing it.
And, of course, thanks for starting us down the slippery slope of knowing which political aisle the newsman comes down on.
I believe Americans didn't even realize it. The first personality anchor; not good.
He was a VERY VERY lucky man, he got a lot of respect and affection and money and really did help push this country in the direction he saw fit.I respect his talent, I don't respect the change in the news.
But, heck, I want 30 minutes at 6 pm with film at 11. I think this country would be greatly improved with JUST THE REAL NEWS...not opinion and NO MORE TALKING HEADS screaming at each other.Inform, don't entertain...we have problems like we've NEVER had in America and we get even the Conservative talking heads laughing about VERY serious stuff with terrible ramifications. Laughing or cutting off serious conversation because of..THE COMMERCIAL! "Gotta go, thanks for coming by!" grrrr
Walter Cronkite was probably the first to promote news as show biz, but definitely not the last. Sad.
Ananda Girl: The rest of the story about Cronkite has yet to be written. I hope the chronicler will be fair & balanced because I do think Cronkite did much damage to our country as a result of his liberally-biased reporting of the facts... even before he came out.
Z: I hear you & I agree. I was very young at the time & it took me years to figure out the disservice that 'journalists' like Cronkite posed to the public at large, but I did see through the artifice. There is hope that others will see through it as well.
Jan: He allowed himself to be
promoted as the most trusted man in America. But that his liberal views trickled through his reporting was an inexcusable breach of the pact that a journalist has with a trusting public to report just the facts. He was the beginning of the end of the notion that it was just about the facts.
Something WAS going on with that man.
He sailed off into the sunset and I actually thought he had died before this.
The 60's were a turning point in our country - we are reaping the benefits now - and probably forever.
Crazy4coens: You are right. We are definitely reaping what was sowed in the '60s.
Didn't know much about him, but when i heard the name being thrown about on the news and such, i had a feeling something wasn't so right. Thanks for confirming.
He was also the first one to bad mouth our efforts in Vietnam.
I never liked or trusted Cronkite.
After all, he was a founder of the MSM of today.
MK: It is a sign of the times that we can't confide in one source of news anymore. It is incumbent upon each individual to seek out various sources before arriving at a political position.
The insidious thing about Cronkite was that he pretended to be our "Uncle Walter", a trusted member of the family, and then went off on liberal jags which the sheeple followed.
Frank The Thinking Man: Absolutely. He was one of the first "trusted" sources of news that began to downtalk the war. Unfortunately, we had no Internet in those days and there was no way to counter the daily 'news' that was fed to us at thrice daily intervals.
Brooke: Yeah, watching him brag about how he & the press managed to turn public opinion against the war in Vietnam was all I needed to know about the likes of Cronkite.
BTW Frank The Thinking Man, your
avatar is way cool.
back in the day, he was the ONLY news so he had to be trusted - now look at us - at least two generations of people who cannot think for themselves without the maelstrom media!~! and being spoonfed pablum!
nanc: So true. They've been snowing us for years.
