At first I thought this from Blunt Force Truth was really a piece from The Onion, but it's real...

Half Of Detroit’s Current Mayoral Candidates Are Felons

*head slap*

Reminds me of the days of Marion Barry, 4-term Mayor of D.C. I wonder whose judgement is more questionable, the candidates or the voters.

...and they will win

Granny Annie: There are a total of eight candidates running for Mayor. The other four don't have records, but in Detroit that may be a drawback.

It's a different world we live in. The hoodlums are the cool people and the law abiding are the racist white privilege folks. It's crazy.

Have a fabulous day. ☺

They won't need on the job training to serve as mayor.

Yup, I have this scheduled for posting tomorrow or Monday, not sure. IMAGINE? And they wonder why Detroit has gone downhill so bad and so fast!? Have we really reached THIS LOW that we elect felons?! MY GOSH.
If felons can't vote, why can they RUN, come to think of it!???

No way i can comment, considering that a felon ran for office here, too (former governor Edwin Edwards ran for congress). And plenty of people voted for him!

Deeeeetroit. Only half are felons? They're choir boys compared to us Flintoids.

Detroit is celebrating right now imo.

Sandee: Sad day for America. Up is down. Black is white. That the topsy turvy world in which we live.

Jan: Their curriculum vitae is right for the job.

Z: That was my question exactly. How can this be?

Messymimi: I'm sure there are other cases of this in other parts of the country. My question is how is this counter-intuitive situation allowed to happen?

cube said...

DaBlade: I'm not naive enough to think that Detroit and DC are the only places where this is happening, but the situation needs addressing.

It will be funny when the Dems have a primary debate and Duggan (the former Wayne County Prosecutor and incumbent Democrat Mayor) turns to one of his opponents and says “I remember your case. I put you away.”

Ed Bonderenka: Lol. Good point.
