This hedgehog being subjected to science

Too cute.

They do have the cutest faces. Is the body fur soft or bristly? It looks very soft here

I wonder if they would get along with our cats.

They're cuter than a bug's ear...or so it's said. However, I have also heard that they have a rather nasty disposition. True or untrue?

Well, i have it on good authority that they do not hog hedges!

Jan: They have quills, but they don't shoot them as porcupines can do. If a hedgehog is calm, the quills along the back are down and they feel smooth. If they get nervous, the curl up into a tight ball and the quills stick up leaving their fur prickly. The key is handling them often so they become well socialized to humans.

Kid: Yes, I've seen videos of them interacting with cats, but as you know, cats will be cats and they can sometimes hurt other animals.

LL: They're very cute and their disposition can be very loving if properly socialized. A scared hedgehog rolled into a tight ball will loosen up at the sound or scent of their human.

Messymimi: They are referred to as "hogs" because they do love to eat a variety of foods.

Jan: Porcupines don't actually "shoot" out their quills like we saw in cartoons, but if the the quills are loose, they get "flicked" off. If attacked, the quills stand up and are used to pierce opponents. Much different that the little hedgehogs.

So cute. I love all critters. Not spiders and snakes though. I'll pass on those.

Have a fabulous day. ☺

Sandee: I studied life in college (BS in Biology) and I love the critters, too. That said, I love the snakes, but not the spiders. Recently, my husband opened our garage door and a huge roach landed on him. That has been a nightmare of mine and why I always check the garage door before I go into the garage. Believe me, a spider would've been just as bad as a roach. We get big spiders here in Florida and they're very aggressive. I love the diversity of animal life on this planet, but I'm not fans of spiders, roaches or bugs. Give me a hedgehog any day.

I find it puzzling that no one asked why the little critter wanted to be in a flask in the first place. Have we lost all of our humanity?

Cube, It seemed to me someone put him/her in there so they could weigh the little lovely.

Kid: I think there was a human hand that started the whole cuteness, but it ended up being very cute in a scientific way. And you know, I'm all about science.

Kid said...

No doubt the hand started it all :)
