American cockroaches are wanted by the the Houston Museum of Natural Science to fill an exhibit about the wonders of insects that eat decomposing things.
Museum Offering To Buy Cockroaches *shudder*
There are enough of those flying suckers in my garage to fill that exhibit, but the museum curators will have to come and get them themselves.
*SHUDDER*

I HAAAATE those things!
i haven't seen cockroaches here, but we do have the thicker, darker woodroaches that lay up in our firewood piles, but they're not so pesky and are a little louder when mashed underfoot.
Nanc-They stink too!
All the Houstan curators have to do is send a bug catcher to Florida, for about 6 hrs., then they would have a really nice assortment...
tmw
Just have them come to our garage. They fly right at you sometimes.
I had one fly past my head and into the open washing machine. It made a loud thud when it landed! Scared me to death.
I've been lucky in that I've never had to deal with cockroaches here at my house. I think that my cats go after them--or something.
One of my Texas friends used to have a cat which caught cockroaches and buried them in her litter pan. I guess the smell made her file cockroaches that way.
aow2: Both the cats & the dogs go after the roaches here, but, unfortunately, there are still plenty to go around.
I'll take nanc's & the Texas cat's word for the roach smell. I've never gotten close enough to smell one.
ewwwwwwwwwww! lol
CUBE! I was just at a blog that said today is Star Wars day!
May the 4th be with you!!

bw: May the 4th be with you too!
I do this every year. I didn't want to repeat myself.
If you don't believe me, check the archives. I figured I would give it a break for 2007 :-)
Bah! Anything worth doing once is worth doing several times.
You've just covered your SF quota for the week, that's it, right.

b.w.: May 2005 I used the Yoda quote and got 1 comment --from myself no less.
But on May 2006, a birdwoman post was conspicuously absent, but I got 10 comments from some of the same folks who are still commenting today. I can't keep using the same old stuff - maybe in 2007 I'll drag it out of mothballs ;-)
BTW I don't like quotas, not even
when it comes to SF ;-)
We used to have a ton of them in our old basement apartment in Jersey. Thankfully, I haven't seen any since moving to Brooklyn. KNOCK ON WOOD.
Hideous again.
beckeye: I remeber lots of German roaches when I lived in Manhattan. I didn't see the huge flying ones up there like we have in Florida.
j.d.: It doesn't rise to the level of hitonious?
;-)
This just proves that people living in Houston are stupid (or living in Houston makes you stupid) because there are roaches all over that city. And can I just say -- yuck!
Nice to meet you admin.
here my recent review article about cockroaches and
you can read them here cockroaches thanks
