New Sweethearts

Have you noticed that Necco Sweethearts don't taste the same as they have for the last 145 years?

My daughters, lifelong Sweetheart fans, don't like the bold new flavors.

According to The Candyblog , you can still find the traditional candies, but we haven't seen them in our area.

Candy is serious business. Necco doesn't want a New Coke debacle on their hands.

When you have a winning product, don't mess with it, that's my policy.

The hearts were never one of my favorite things, but I love "Peeps" at Easter. Pure sugar, not good for you at all, but delish!

I've always viewed sweethearts like many view candy corn.

Absolutely. If you do decide to change a long-standing recipe, don't just do away with the original until the free market decides which of the two will survive or whether both will sell.

I had a bad experience with Sweethearts as a kid and I haven't eaten them since. My favorite candy is Cherry Jolly Rancher.

Birdwoman: Sweet Tart Hearts is a perfect example of what Debbie and I were talking about. Introduce a new product, but don't kill the old one.

Brooke: Neccos were always preferred over the Brach's brand, but not anymore. It's ICK all across the Sweetharts board now.

WomanHonorThyself: It's beautiful today (Wednesday afternoon).

I'm not a big fan of the fruit-tasting conversation hearts...but knowing me I'll gobble down just about any candy put in front of me.

I have always liked those little sweetheart candies. Haven't had a chance to taste the new flavored hearts yet so I can't make a good or bad comparison yet. I will have to hunt down the new sweethearts.

EDGE: When I was a kid I gobbled a bunch of sweethearts and it gave me an awful headache. I haven't been able to eat any since.

Teresa: The day after Valentine's Day is the best time to buy any candy... 50% off sales.
