Fried Crap?

In preparation for the 2008 Olympics Beijing Attempts To Correct Signs With Bad English Translations

Beijing has already corrected over 6,500 traffic signs and will next target public toilets, museums and even restaurant menus to remove items such as "fried crap", "cow bowel in sauce", "corrugated iron beef" and "acid food".

Potrezebie.

An expat friend says that Beijing is actually kinda saddened by this. He thinks the stuff is charming.

nanc: Glad you liked it.

bw: It certainly wouldn't be good business for a restaurant.

tmw: A cautionary tale. Never believe the advertising.

I think they should leave it alone... It adds character!

brooke: The chicoms are out to pose as a wonderful society to the eyes of the world.

They are also banning spitting and the use of the middle finger.

No doubt they'll jail tons of Falun Gong followers & assorted dissidents beforehand too. They wouldn't want them making a scene in front of the foreigners.

"cow bowels in sauce"

What's wrong with that?

Is there some better way to serve them?

caz: Very good point. You wouldn't want to have cow bowels dry, would you?
