Above It All

Papa Frank started it with his Schoolhouse Rock post.

This is one of my favorites from Sesame Street. I wanted a cool fez with a propellar on it that would let me fly...

above below it all!

Haha, I worked for PBS for 7 years, my days were spent watching Sesame Street, Barney and *gasp* Teletubbies...

forgive me if I cringe at some of them..

Cube,

I have two daughters and spent a fair measure of time watching Sesame Street and Barney, Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop and The Big Comfy Couch too.

Back then I was their hero! Now I am an embarrasment patiently waiting for the reawakening I've heard about from other dads! I can be patient but it sure brings back sweet memories to hear that song after 8 or 9 years!

Sorta gets this ole harpoonin seadog a little misty looking back!

I haven't watched any Schoolhouse Rock videos or Sesame Street in years, but I bet I could join right in on many of the songs. Those things just get stuck in your head and don't ever go away.

LOL! A flying alligator in a cat suit! :)

I was an old-school "Reading Rainbow" brat.

You still want a FEZ? How things change!

For some unexplainable reason, Sesame Street never caught on with my kids. They liked educational tv and we were quick to steer them to it but they never got into Sesame Street. It's too bad, I thought it was agreat show for kids.

Dig the musical "ABBA" takeoff.

Papa Frank: Thank you for starting it all. I hadn't thought about this stuff in years.

Misfit410: You are forgiven. The Teletubbies were never big in our house because even my kids thought the show was awful. Sesame Street was OK, but Barney was a huge hit. For me, it was a half hour of peace from kiddie mayhem.

QQ: We are in the same whaling boat. My girls are 14 & 18 so I can relate to your predicament. If your girls are smart, they'll come to their senses with time.

j.d.: Same here.

brooke: Ah yes, Levar's show.

Z: It was a fez with a propellar. The propellar was the main attraction for me, not the fez, which was a silly hat I associated with the Shriners.

How times change is right.

chuck: Same at my house. Barney, Little Bear, The Big Comfy Couch easily overtook anything Sesame Street.

Pasadena CC: Yeah, it was the music that made me remember this particular video.
