Murtha The Mouth

Last week, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa) told Tim Russert on Meet The Press here
that our troops in Iraq should be redeployed to Okinawa. Murtha says we can redeploy there almost instantly.

Okinawa?

A Pentagon spokesman said, "it would take ''under a month'' to prepare and send a 4,500-man Marine Expeditionary Force 6,000 nautical miles from Okinawa to Bahrain and then 600 more miles to Baghdad."

According to the Sun Sentinel here , this weekend Murtha said that the American presence in Iraq is more dangerous to world peace than nuclear threats from North Korea or Iran.

Is this senile dementia or just plain stupid?

I'm beginning to think the whole government is senile and stupid!

I can't say one way or the other, however I must say Tim Russert is my absolutely favorite news commentator/host. He's intelligent, seems to ask questions without any political agenda, and is very well informed.

Did the Japanese unsurrender?

We've had a military (USMC) presence on the island of Okinawa since WWII.

As far as Murtha, I'm leaning towards less than fully aware of his surroundings.

tlm: hee hee. unsurrender. that's good.

cary: I thought he was just a liberal-out-to-do-the-most-harm-to-a-Republican-administration, but the Okinawa thing is just plain stupid... Ok, maybe it is a liberal thing ;-)

woman: it's not just self hating liberal, it's America-hating liberal.

nanc: why would you want to smack a poor Bible? ;-)

Murtha is off his rocker. He just keeps going deeper and deeper into this mental illness of his. He simply doesn't make sense. I don't mind that he voices his opinions, but I would like it if he at least made sense.
His assessment of the situation is WAY off.

Notwithstanding the silliness of the context of his comments: Bahrain desperately needs help. But that's not a zero sum game.

How about, as we say here in the South: "That man's just plain ign'ant."
