Persistant Roach

Our anniversary was on September 10th and we had a power failure for two hours. Then the night got better... I saw a roach (Periplaneta americana) on the wall over the pantry door. My husband, the official bug killer of the house was asleep, and I didn't have the heart to wake him. So I grabbed the can of Raid and I sprayed the roach AND IT FLEW RIGHT AT ME! The hysterical woman screams that ensued woke my husband anyway and he came running over to see why I was screaming. We both looked but couldn't find the roach. I always demand to see the body and I was very disappointed that we couldn't find it.

Later, I went into the kitchen for some water and I saw the roach lying on its back on the floor and I got the dustpan and the broom to pick it up and throw it into the trash. Well, the effing thing FLEW AT ME A SECOND TIME! More screaming ensued while I proceeding to hit it with the broom and finally kill it.

How many people get attacked by the same roach twice?

It's unheard of...

I had the heebie jeebies for the rest of the night.

EW...sounds like a silver bullet or wooden stake might have been in order.

A silver bullet AND a wooden stake would've been OK in my mind. I would've tried anything. It was like the Jason Voorhes of roaches... it just would't DIE!

WomanHonorThyself: I still have the heebie jeebies every time I go to the pantry door.

Wishing you a wonderful, roach-free weekend ;-)

I have never seen a flying roach! That alone would terrify me.

Granny Annie: Roaches fly in Florida. I had one fly into the washing machine I was filling and I also had one fly into a dryer I was filling. That's why it's helpful to have a husband. When he hears screams, he comes running.

I'm from Florida, so I've had a roach fly at me before, but I've never had the same roach fly at me twice. That was a first.

Are you sure it was the same one?

Gah!

Brooke: Yes, it was the same roach. Absolutely.

Roaches can't get rabies, can they?

Cube - I love your roach story but most of all I wanted to tell you that our wedding anniversary was also on the 10th of September. What a coincidence - right?

Woodsterman (Odie): Do warriors scream like little girls?

Always On Watch: Not rabies that I know of, but they do carry germs. They're nasty creatures.

Sue Hanes: Same anniversary date. Wow, that is a coincidence. 31 years for us.
