I thought this was an article from The Onion:
‘I Don’t Even Know HOW’: Some Oregonians Panic About New Self-service Gas Law
The line that kills me is,
"I've lived in this state all my life and I REFUSE to pump my own gas ... This [is] a service only qualified people should perform."
Qualified people to pump gas?
Yes, some Oregonians could use some qualified people... qualified in the mental health field.

Liberalism is indeed a mental illness.
I was born and raised in Oregon. It used to be such a nice state until all the liberals from California moved there to get away from the crazies in California. What did they do? They brought the crazy to Oregon. It's how they roll. It is a mental illness.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
Many years ago, to force employment of people with limited skill sets, Oregonians passed a law that eliminated self-serve gas stations. Over time, that became common practice. I think that it's the same in New Jersey. Today pumping gas is considered 'skilled employment' because they also (rarely) clean a windshield.

Jan: I can appreciate artsiness as much as anyone else, but when it turns away from common sense and into looniness, then I worry.
Sandee: My husband was born and raised in New Hampshire and this reminds me of the situation of New Hampshire and Massachusetts that my husband talks about. The same liberals that voted to raise tax rates in Mass. went ahead and moved to NH and VT to get way from the very taxes the voted for. Yes, mental illness, what else explains it?
LL: Another big government fail. It doesn't surprise me.
The kids and i were discussing this yesterday. They think it's weird that full service used to be a thing.
The following is a thought I've had many times over the last 20 or so years.
If we had just invented gasoline, there is no way in hell "America" would let us use it. Or if they did, it would have to be pumped into our cars by "Specialists" in fire suits while we waited in 'safe zones'. I triple guarantee it. This is how screwed up this country has gotten in such a short time.
Messymimi: I know. I guess we're getting old. It is a thing of the past.
Kid: Please give me a follow up. I'm not sure I understand.
I'll probably come up short... I'm just thinking that today's culture is 1) Keep me safe AT ALL COSTS and 2) Lawyer feeding frenzy. In this case, If gasoline wasn't as accepted as it is already, I'd expect to see lawyer commercials on TV saying that if YOU have been negatively impacted by having to pump your own gasoline, call Kanye Screwem and Howe today !
Distilled down. America could easily be made to think that gasoline was far too dangerous to be handled by the general public.
Kid: I'll see you on the cheesy lawyer ads because I don't like them either.
