So much education and still so blind.

There has been precious little "expertise" in the halls of academia. Pointing to a PhD sheepskin on the wall is about as useful as pointing to the cafeteria. The results of what is taught, what is researched and how that translates into increasing a knowledge base are something different. But academia doesn't see it that way. Tenure is king. And tenure implies that somebody knows what they're talking about. I don't see that the two (tenure and knowledge) are connected.

President Trump is helping to make America great again. They can't see that. It's because they're ignorant (tenure notwithstanding).

I stopped reading the linked article when it was revealed they are both perfessers.

I haven't read an intelligent output from a perfesser in years. I consider them to be like politicians who by and large are failed lawyers. In the university case, they failed in real life in whatever genre they briefly exposed themselves to if ever. Those who can't - teach.

Just because you went to school does not make you an expert.

Jan: I would like to see their offbeat positions discredited, but how do we do that. Our experts yell at their experts and where do we go from there? Experts are experts no matter what they say.

LL: I tend to agree that that's the case now. Years ago, my experience with professors was on average very good. Of course, my professors were scientists and they taught science, not liberal craptrap. (Don't get me started on the prostitution of science secondary to the global warming/ climate change hoax)

I think tenure is being handed out without proper qualifications. Case in point: Randa "Bovinia" Jarrar. There are plenty more examples. Just because you're female or hispanic, or even better both, doesn't mean you deserve tenure. Meritocracy used to mean something, but unfortunately, it doesn't mean much to universities any more.

Kid: I understand. Lee is a professor of psychiatry at Yale and Sachs is a professor of not-even-stated-in-the-article @ Columbia. Experts. The article I referenced was from Christopher Degroot who completely annihilated the views of the two professors. Why would you want to avoid reading that? It's not about the two professors, just their fraudulent views.

Messymimi: As an "expert" in biology, I can attest to the truth of that statement. To my credit, although I do have a degree, I still consider myself a student and always learning.

Kid: The article wasn't FOR the professors it was AGAINST the professors. You know that I'm on your side, but closing your eyes to what is happening isn't the optional way to deal with things.

Just my bi-wwekly rant about the university perfessers.

kid: Early on in my college degree, professors were very liberal in their studies about the liberal arts I had to study to get my degree, but once I got into the real science of my degree, there was less and less politics and more and more science. That's why I love science so much. Less and less ambiguity. One plus one always equals two in science.

Science, math, geometry, algebra and such were my favorite subjects. No ambiguity. I liked theoretical stuff too as long at it involved something tangible.

As an aside, you might like the post over at Political Clown Parade on hummingbirds.

KId: My science professors were wonderful educators. There was one female and the rest were males. To this day, I hear their words in my head and those are good words. As far as I know, they are still teaching, and I really hope so.
