We've been seeing a new bird at the feeder last couple months.. Very Orange body and Very Blue wings and back.. Never saw one before and we been here 20 years.
Kid: I get it. My email address has been crazy for many years on The Blog and I can't seem to fix it.
Anyway, back to this beautiful bird. Any ideas as to what it is and why it's all of a sudden in your area. Please don't say climate change or I'll block you. Oh, wait this isn't Twitter. 😉 Ha!
Cube, I remember seeing the Species "Rufous..." a few times on my searches. Thank You. I think that's a good guess. Well, we've got hummingbirds here usually from May through October, so a tropical bird could enjoy it here. Beauty of a bird.
We also have Woodpecker, Cardinal, Blue Jay and a whole host of smallish birds, along with starling and those common birds. We putt out Costco's bird seed blend along with additional shelled and unshelled but not salted peanut. They eat every piece of it all.
Kid: In that vein, I saw more hummingbirds at one time than I have ever seen in my whole life during one morning at my sister-in-law's patio on Cape Cod one morning. It was amazing to me, but an ordinary thing with her. There we 15 or 20 them... too many to count for their early morning feed.
Cube, Hummingbird sanctuaries down near Tucson. They'll light on your hand and of course there are youtubes showing you how to get hummers eating out of your hand. You gotta be one of the good ones though I guess. They're not dumb.

I do not know Cube. I do a search for orange breast and blue wings and back and many varities show up in the listing.
Bob/Kid: I have my bird people sources. I'll give it a try and let you know.
Kid: I need to know geographically where the bird was seen. No need to get specific.

Kid: I'm getting that it's a Rufous-bellied Niltava (Niltava sundara) and is a bird that shouldn't be in Ohio. Mostly tropical. Hope that helps.
