Throwback Thursday

On the morning news today they were talking about the '80's and showing embarrassing photos of everyone...

I thought it would be fun to share one of mine.

This is my husband and me back then.

Care to share yours?

Up A Pole?

How drunk do you have to be to do this?

I'm thinking how in the world is this even physically possible.

Maybe It's You?

FACT SHEET: President Obama Proposes $1.1 Billion In New Funding To Address The Prescription Opioid Abuse And Heroin Use Epidemic

Isn't it ironic that Obama is proposing a 1.1 billion increase in new funding for prescription opioid abuse and a heroin use epidemic when he's probably the cause of this increase in opioid and heroin abuse.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Winning Is Good

I'm not a basketball fan. I'm 5'4, but I could always make a free throw when I had to, and if you're a basketball player, you'd better make those every single time.

But I am all for the UConn team being the best.

Geno Auriemma Says If You Don't Like UConn's Dominance, 'Don't watch'

When did winning become bad?

I remember playing board games and card games with my grandmother when I was little. I lost many games to her. I complained to her about why she didn't let me win sometimes.

She said, "You want to win?"

"Yes." I replied.

"Then you need to be better. That's how you win."

That was a life lesson for me.

I don't understand how we've gotten away from winning being a good thing.

Angry Cat Blog Friday

For this Cat Blog Friday...

... a cat angry over recent terrorist attacks in Brussels.

There's nothing wrong with memorials, teddy bears, and candles, but I think we need to do more.

Try to have a happy Friday in spite of the sorry we all feel.

Happy Easter.

Special Snowflakes

My eldest is a millennial herself and she refers to these students as "special snowflakes."

I agree.

My university experience was nothing like this insanity, but of course, I was too busy studying math and science to whine and cry about stupid stuff.

A Confederacy Of Dunces

Hear that? That is the sound of my jaw dropping to the floor when I heard Obama's Cuba speech...

Obama: Cuba's Revolution, Like America's, Was A 'Liberation Movement."

I'd bet my last dollar that Obama isn't referring to Cuba's liberation from Spanish rule in 1898.

Put down the basketball brackets and pick up a history book, you bleeping moron!

Professional Protester?

For the people praising the guy who went after Trump on stage, here's another shot of him for you, just so you know exactly what you're supporting.

PC Kowtowing Cat Blog Friday

For this Cat Blog Friday...

... a cat in a burqa? Say what?

I guess it can happen in this new PC world where the powers that be kowtow to the outlandish demands of moslems and other boisterous groups.

Anti-Sleep Conspiracy?

I drove my husband and daughters to the airport this past Saturday and that meant I was alone with two big dogs and six cats. They were all very needy because there was only one person at home to cater to their many needs...
there was no dilution factor.

The trip went well for them and I picked up my family on Tuesday and I thought I'd finally be able to get some sleep that night... then I wrenched my left knee that afternoon (all I did was turn abruptly) and couldn't sleep no matter how much Naproxen and Ibuprofen I took. I was elevating my leg in the living room, but it was very sore even when I kept it still.

I finally dozed off and my husband's phone phone alarm went off at 3:45 am and wouldn't stop until I stumbled over to the office and shut it off.

It was the worst night's sleep I've had in weeks.

*sigh*

Let's hope tomorrow night will be better 'cause I can't take much more. Bad knee or not, I may just fall asleep on my feet.

Drawing

Fellow blogger Granny Annie at Fools Rush In has been participating in a 29 Faces Challange where you draw a face a day for February. I think it would behoove you to check out her work.

Since I'm on my own this weekend, I thought I'd look for some of my drawings from the past... back before marriage and kids, back before social media, back when I had time to myself and I found this assignment for my Humanities class. We were tasked to take a famous painting, copy it, and then write a paper about the artist's intention.

This is Mastisse's The Dance:

And this is my reproduction of Matisse's The Dance:

I've always enjoyed Fauvism, but I chose this painting because I had procrastinated myself out of doing a more realistic and detailed drawing. I would have much preferred copying something like "Lamentation Over The Dead Christ" in pencil, or "Prayer Hands" because I was more comfortable drawing detailed work in pencil and/or charcoal, but they weren't in the textbook so I picked an easy alternative: Nekkid people dancing around.

Believe me, I have grown since those college days.

Poor Plant

I was gifted this orchid by a very sweet neighbor, but she doesn't know that I'm a serial plant killer...

Oh the humanity.

This poor plant will be my next victim... and I can't stop... I'm a lousy plant person. Help me... help.

And The Babies?

Yeah. We just spent $420 on Missy Moo's vet bill this week.

In case you're worried, she's back to her old self again. Thank goodness.

I guess some animals are better than others.
