I don't know how I feel about the outrage over the 9/11 Memorial Museum's gift shop...
I know that a few weeks after September 11th, 2001, I bought the above dog tag with the name of Steven Weinstein, FDNY, and it hangs from my rear view mirror to this day.
Voices Of September 11th
Is that any different?

I don't know how his sister can draw a breath knowing what he tried to do for her and his having lost his life in the doing.
I think this tag is VERY VERY different than a gift shop at 9/11...which I'm torn about, too.
(boy, you can sure pick the good looking ones, can't you, cube!)
I went to Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam and, once we finally found it, Mr. Z swung my door open and I got out, looked up at it, and got back in the car. "What are you doing, Z?"
I said "Mr. Z, I can't treat this like Disneyland....it's enough to be here in front; I can't go up"
I never expected myself to react like that; I'd always wanted to see that. I couldn't.
I think I'm against the gift shop; Is it actually called GIFT SHOP? Then I'm definitely against it. maybe just MEMORABILIA? like books on 9/11, etc? But I hear there are very tacky things in that shop.
It was a horrific day. I'm not going to dwell on the gift shop. What's important is who did this to us. I will never forget this was done in the name of religion. A religion that's supposed to be a religion of peace. I'm not seeing any peace in Islam. No where in the world.
What a touching tribute. So many heroes died that day.
Have a fabulous day. ☺
Z: Good to hear from you again.
I can't imagine the horror any of those families felt... I can't imagine their pain.
I'm torn about the 9/11 gift shop because I don't remember who benefited from the stuff I bought way back then, and, yet, I bought it and it is still riding in my car.
I remember their loved one's name every time I drive my car... how bad can that be?
Sandee: It was the most horrible day I can remember, of course, I didn't live through WWII.
There is nothing peaceful about islam... it means surrender and I'm not about to do that so they can go "eff" themselves.
Where do the funds go that are raised in the gift shop?
Ccube - I agree with you in not being sure how I feel about the 9/11 gift shop. It seems so commercial.
Granny Annie: I don't know where the funds go for this memorial. I do know that I remember Michael Weinberg's name to this day and I wouldn't have had it not been for the dog tags hanging in my car.
I will happen anytime you put the PC crowd in charge of anything.
