Dental Drama
Make that 500,001.
*sigh*
Sorry about the unannounced absence, but it hasn't been a happy time around here for this self-avowed anti-dentite or, as others have called me, "a big baby, a big chicken, a coward, etc., when it comes to the dentist."
*sigh*
My front tooth, yes, my beloved FRONT tooth broke along the back, just like that, no warning, no snarky tweet signaling its impending demise. Nothing... just pain and an inability to eat all of the good stuff in this world.
So, I embarked on the long and tedious journey towards my first dental implant, with a detour along the way to getting my blood pressure under control before the implantation process could even begin.
did I already *sigh*?
Anyway, I passed one big dental hurdle today and finally see a tiny flicker of light in the distance ... or is that just a lighted drone?

I share your phobia and think people who don't simply have pants on fire.
Sorry about this ...
Good Good luck with all this Cube. I hope the reality is much better than the imagining.
Jan: I think most people have a dental phobia to some degree, but, in my mind, I was in the high anxiety kind. I wanted to title this post, "Requiem For A Tooth," and I'm glad I decided no to, because its just a tooth and the temporary replacement looks just like the original. The worst is over now and I feel a little foolish for being so scared.
The Happy Whisk: Thank you four your kind words. Now that most of the worst is over *whew*, I'm going to have to contain my appetite for food to that of the virtual kind, such as your culinary concoctions.
Nothing like losing a tooth to realize how much I took food for granted. Luckily, it will only be for a while.
Kid: Thanks for the kind and wise words. Thankfully, this time the reality was far better than the imagining. Who was is that said that a coward dies a thousand times but the hero only once. I don't remember, but he was right.
It's funny the things we face fearlessly and those that bring us to outright fear.
Hero and the coward. Good stuff.
I don't care for dramas. I dislike dentist appointments. I hate dental dramas.
But I really don't approve of cube's extended blog absence. Glad you're feeling better.
My heart goes out to you, i'm sorry you had to go through this.
While it's no fun having to go to a dentist or doctor, i found out a long time ago that the dental procedures themselves hurt a lot less than the pain you suffer if you don't go. On the same vein as getting a shot so you don't get the illness, i'll take the bit of pain from the dentist over the toothache.
DaBlade: I've disagreed with you before, but I must say that that this is one of your most agreeable comments. I mean, I can't agree with you more ;)
Thanks for the kind words.
Messymimi: Thank you. You're so right about not avoiding the dentist or the doctor and I know it, well, at least my brain knows it... I can be such a chicken, though.
I'm not a fan of the dentist either, but I go three times a year for cleaning. I just suck it up and deal with it.
I'm sorry you had to go through this. This is more than just a small procedure.
Have a happy day. ☺
Sandee: My brain knows that routine dental check ups are something that should be done, but it's something the chicken in me finds a way to procrastinate. I've learned my lesson the hard way.
