Common courtesy exists, but it's not all that common. In the Temples of the Living Elvis, where the shelves are stacked with one type of consumable or other, there can be a feeding frenzy particularly where the consumable is the "toy of the year". I think that the first "toy of the year" was the Cabbage Patch Doll something like 30+ years ago. And yes, I secured one of my baby girl.
