Messymimi: A plushy surrogate mother is an excellent way to bring comfort to so many different babies. It's a mammal thing, but it works. I love the photo too.
Jan: People who work with bats and bat rescues have stories about how social and intelligent bats are even though they don't make good pets. Bats are still mammals and need what all mammals crave, other mammals. These surrogate mother plushy toys and also being swathed like a baby, lessen the terror a bat feels when injured or in captivity. Most people know they eat tons of bugs, but they're also key pollinators which is hugely important to crops. All good stuff from our friends, the flying "foxes".

What a unique way to help raise an orphaned baby bat — at least, i’m guessing that’s an orphaned baby. Precious photo.
That's creepy. ☺
They can't help that people think they're creepy. They are really our friends.

Ed Bonderenko: It's alright. I'm sure the baby bat finds you creepy looking too 😉
