Grounded Girl

Singer Annie Lennox has been hit with a hefty repair bill after Lola, her 16-year-old daughter, became the latest victim of gatecrashers who get wind of a party on the internet.

Annie Lennox's Girl Hit By The Internet Gatecrash Yobs

This was the third time in recent weeks that UK teens have trashed homes in a party advertised on the Internet.

Who in their right mind goes out of town and leaves their teenager in charge of the house?

She needs an ass whoopen. Left a lone or not, she should know better. She just needs a swift kick in the ass.

Leftys do Cube and strut their kids with their stomachs showing to the whole world to boot!

My father left me overnight once. He was very explicit that NO ONE would come over, period.

Dad had instilled in us a little old-fashioned fear of God, so I didn't test him!

When I was growing up, my best friend's parents left her alone quite a few times as a teen. And we had the BEST parties when she was gone, let me tell you. So I'm with you - - leaving your teen to mind the house is probably not the best idea ever.

Good grief! Who advertises their party on the internet, either? That just seems like it's bound to go bad.

Some parents ... the only times I got left alone, I had a younger brother to watch.

When I did have parties, my parents camped out upstairs -- and here I thought they were just hanging out in case we needed anything :-)

Parents who are trying to be "cool" for their kids and trying to be their kids' "buddies" and trying to tiptoe around disciplining their kids.

I love Annie Lennox's music, but her private life & her politics aren't in sync with my own.

I think divorce plays a role in these incidents of unsupervised kids getting into wild situations. The father, who had custody of the children that weekend, was out of town.

What a mess.

16year olds are babysitters. Petsitters. they should be able to handle being alone overnight.

but many have been shielded from consequences all their lives, and they've been led to believe they deserve everything.

As bad as this is, I think it's worse when a group of them hit a house that's empty to party - usually new construction has this problem.

maze: Yup. They trashed the place.

bw: The daughter says she only invited 30 friends. Only. Then the invite got plastered on the Internet & a bunch of strangers showed up & trashed the house.

This is more than just a party. This was a deliberate destruction of property. I don't know what possesses these little monsters. I hope they were raised better than that.
