Kid: "Darmok and Jalad... at Tanagra." Then, "Shaka, when the walls fell." Then, "Temba, his arms wide!" My husband and I parrot these quotes often and they never fail to bring us cheer. The Walmart take on this episode was very creative.
I think this should become our new dialogue. First off, it would force people to learn actual history and 2ndly - it is very efficient in the 'not reinventing the wheel all the time' category.
Like 'Abe Lincoln, a Republican, freeing the slaves.
Or '3 yr old violent brat' (describes all liberals)
Kid: I believe that if we all spoke in metaphors, our country would be in worse shape. We can't even communicate in English. Most people wouldn't know a metaphor if it hit them in the face and showed them Metaphor ID.
