Solidarity

From WSJ Opinion Journal.com comes Christopher Hitchins' spot on editorial, Solidarity: Our first duty is to stand together against bin Ladenism , whice deals with the need to stand together not just as Americans, but, in this global war on terror, as the side that stands for freedom.

Today, as I am flooded with images of that fateful day five years ago, my anger rages not only at the barbaric islamofascists, but also against those dim-witted liberals that enable the side of the terrorists with their PC politics, and the gutlessness of cut-and run policies in the face of this global threat.

Until these liberals stand with us against terror, I refuse to call them anything but traitors to America.

Agreed, Sir! Rage is justifiable and appropriate. Focusing the anger in the direction deserved is the key. We did nothing to create our response... THEY did. Nice post!

And what about the liberal hypocrisy? They're the first to cry out about human rights violations-- but what kind of human rights catastrophe would Iraq turn into if we were to pull out of Iraq before they are ready to take over control of the military and government?

If we pull out now, we leave a weak and divided Iraq that will collapse either due to internal civil war or due to invasion from Iran which I believe would invade Iraq at the first available opportunity given how fragile the balance of power would be in our absence.

The Iraqi people would suffer tremendously from early withdrawal... but that's okay because "Bush lied, people died" and various other vapid slogans the liberals conveniently and emptily toss our way any time their ideas or beliefs are challenged.

last night our son and i were talking about the civil war and he stated how horrible it must have been to have people in our own country having the need to fight one another...i had to tell him, in all honesty - that is what it will come down to if we do not unite as a nation and soon.

Thank you for your kind words about this post. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that's been stewing over this lack of support from our own side.

Hiya Cube.."traitors to America" is exactly right...lets use the new term shall we?..:)

woman: Let's! I'm through pussyfooting around with this too.

The safety of our country is too much to risk because we don't want to offend folks who, at best, are misguided, or, at worst, are so hungry for power that they engage in traitorous acts.

Acts of war should not be politicized... and especailly not to the extent the dimbulbs on the left have done.

Let's play some devil's advocate and say that the left is right in that we shouldn't have gone to war with Iraq... BUT we are there now... And if going there in the first place was a mistake wouldn't it be an even greater mistake to pull out before the job is done? Aren't we obligated to stay there to clean up the "mess" we created?

perplexio: IMO we are obligated to stay in Iraq until we kill the terrorists that are streaming across the border from Iran & other countries.

We are obligated to stay in Iraq until their military, police force, & government are able to function & care for the Iraqi people.

Pulling out before these obligations are met would be disastrous for Iraq and the USA.

It's almost as though the liberals want us to lose in Iraq just because they think it will propell their party into power. They don't consider the harm it will do to our country.
