In Praise Of Columbus

Sorry to let it go past, but it's still worth honoring Columbus day. This is an article that is well worth the read:

Ignored History: Columbus Sought To End Islamic Tyranny

Yet, Columbus Day is being minimized in more and more places everywhere every year.

Doesn't that make you wonder?

I didn't do much to celebrate Columbus Day, but I honor the man, his vision and his courage.

LL: I don't do much celebrate Columbus Day either, and I never have, but I hate the way his history is being reinvented every year. It seems to get worse every year. Pretty soon we'll hear that Columbus was America's first serial killer.

He was a great man. Some of the things he did were good, and some not so good. Like everyone.

Messymimi: You bring up a very good point. Unless you happen to be an actual saint, the rest of us aren't saints. I'm not happy with looking at an historical person through today's looking glass. I'm tired of the academic snowflakes and they should be more honest when it comes to writing history books.

Columbus was the best deal-maker in history?

He left not knowing where he was going. When he got there, he didn’t know where he was. When he returned, he didn’t know where he’d been. And he did it all on borrowed money.
