Cartoon Contest

Out of Reuter's comes news that Iran's best-selling newspaper has launched a competition to find the best cartoon about the Holocaust in retaliation for the publication in many European countries of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad.

The Brussels-based Conference of European Rabbis (CER) denounced the idea and urged the Muslim world to do likewise, but the cartoon entries are pouring in nonetheless...

I think Iran should be careful what it wishes for...

You know what? I'm Christian and my husband is Jewish and I welcome, I DARE them to make ANY cartoon that would make us respond in the same way. I say GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT and let us show you what we're made of you big babies. I say, let's make up our own cartoons about ourselves just to show that we're above their bullying and challenges.

I agree. I think the Moslems are just one nanosecond away from rioting about this or that.

I also think that judging by the posted cartoon, the Holocaust cartoon challange can backfire on them because it won't produce the results they're looking for.

Really? I hadn´t heard that yet. Germany will be pleased that yet again...people focus on the past, rather than the present!

I need to modify my comment. In retrospect the joking suggestion to make our own comics about ourselves wasn't all that thoughtful; it's bad enough we're going to have to endure what was a very painful part of life for many people yet again.

More than anything, I'm very saddened by this whole thing.

We are truly living in troubled times. This just further examplifies it.

Btw, visitor 19,473, thank you very much!

rgmb: Don't be sad. It's worse for them if you laugh at them. remember the one thing islamofascists know how to do is shoot themselves in the foot. This foolish challenge is further proof.

sar: I think you time your comments!

They are rather touchy

They sound like babies in a playground. When was the last time anyone ever heard of other religions reacting like this to persecution? Jesus is mocked and ridiculed all the time. I don't see Christians burning stuff and rioting over it. They were tasteless cartoons. Write a letter of complaint.

What Jamie Dawn said!

No, I wouldn't draw cartoons that mocked another person's religion, but I also wouldn't put a price on someone's head for mocking mine.

The Moslems can be quite hypocritical when they demand respect, yet are the first to publish cartoons that are offensive
not just to jewish people, but to the west.

The playground analogy is a good one... Moslems don't play well with others and they need to learn.
