Fat Cat

It's not Cat Blog Friday, but I couldn't resist this story about a 33-pound cat in China, with a 31-inch waist.

This 9 year-old fat cat eats 6 pounds of chicken and pork a day and, surprisingly for a feline, doesn't like fish.

Go here for the rest of the story.

Damn! That's how much my little one weighs and she an 4 yo human (yes, well, I suppose saying my little one and human in the same sentence is a bit redundant but you get the point).

Sar, your 4 year old only weighs 33 pounds? You need to feed your child!

Seriously, that's like the Chinese Garfield. 6 lbs a day? They should name this feline "Dang Yu Fat"

sar: I assumed since you were a pump, your little one would be more along the line of a small, flat sandal ;-)

I don't remember what my girls weighed at 4, but I think Phoenix thinks you should feed your child 6 lbs of chicken & pork.

phoenix: LOL. Very good. The best I can do is this cat's mama can call him Wonton Son.

jen: That's what I said when I saw it on TV. Yikes!

FAT cat! That is TOO much!

Sar, my babies each weighed about 30 pounds when they were one year old. I'm a fan of fat babies, but NOT enormously, fat cats.

Yeah, they had it in the news here and I juts couldn´t believe how people can do such a thing to their pets. I mean all sorts of ailments are in store for that cat. Poor thing. It upsets me!

monika: I agree. It is sad. This poor cat can't even climb up onto a couch without a boost. Cats should be lithe & graceful.

this is sad and pathetic. it is obvious that this is just another form of animal cruelty/neglect/abuse. how much could this owner care for his cat? give me a break! Poor thing!

I would like to agree with anonymous but we had a cat that similarly weighed 34 lbs and we had him tested for everything. The vet finally said "he just likes to eat". Unfortunately, as this cat will too, he died of a heart attack.

Yes it is sad. Heart disease, diabetes, kidney disorders, etc. are very likely for this cat. But then it has lived a happy life for 6 years...that's a lot longer than other cats I have known.
