This Japanese Diver Has Been Visiting His Best Friend Fish For 25 Years Now

An Asian sheepshead wrasse named Yoriko (Semicossyphus reticulatus), and a Japanese diver named Hiroyuki Arakawa have been friends for twenty-five years. Here is their story

What a wonderful world it can be.

I knew a lady (human) who looked like Yoriko, the fish and she didn't get kissed nearly as often. Having said that, it's important to live abundantly and kindly. The old Japanese man who tends the shrine seems to have found the formula.

LL: Woah, I think I know her doppelganger ;)

Yes, the old shrine keeper knows that there is no path to happiness; happiness is the path.

Wait, is that fish THE ELEPHANT MAN? Or that guy in the movie with Cher? It looks like it's human with a very sad malformation to me!!

Sweet story, I don't mean to be critical, just observant!?? I love these stories of animals seemingly showing such a heart. Thanks, Cube.

Z: Lol. I thought of the elephant man right away when I saw that picture. Like minds think alike, huh?

I don't think you're being critical at all. I love 'observant' because that's what I am, too. We can see that this is just another piece in the wondrous puzzle that is life.

What a great story of interspecies love.

Jan: Yes, I love it, too.

An Asian sheepshead? I guess this is less creepy than the dude romancing an actual severed sheep's head. But only slightly. Waiter! My fish and chips has a tumor... "It's not a toomah!".

cube said...

DaBlade: You're not happy unless you're making fun of something aren't you? Here you are ugly shaming an otherwise beautiful fish. Shame on you ;)

DaBlade said...

My bad. Rather than ridicule i should make this fish my ‘chum’

DaBlade: Lol.

Thanks for the story Cube.

I recently read one where a large whale kept pushing a female swimmer, who initially thought the whale was attacking her, but realized later the whale was saving her from a shark attack.

Even with all we do to these creatures, they still can do something for us. Give me an animal any day over most people.

Kid: I remember that whale story. It touched me the same way this story did, but a whale is a mammal and this is a fish. I wouldn't have believed that much compassion from a fish.

I wholeheartedly agree about loving critters over some people.
